Coureurs de bois was formed in Iqaluit in late 2008 by lead singer-guitarist Gregory Patrick McLaughlin and drummer Andrew John Gilbutowicz. Ontario-born and Iqaluit-based, the two young musicians create a blend of abrasive blues rock with folk and pop sensibilities. Influenced by their two-man-band contemporaries such as The Black Keys or Death From Above 1979, the two are also influenced by their dads’ record collections that contained classics such as Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
