Led by Music Teacher, Mary Piercey, this all girl ensemble was formed in the Fall of 2008 and performs traditional Inuktitut and contemporary songs, Inuit drum dances and throat songs. Mary is a PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology at Memorial University and spent 5 years teaching music at Qitiqliq High School in Arviat prior to moving to Iqaluit. The Inuksuk Drum Dancers has been dazzling Iqaluit audiences all year, most recently at the Toonik Tyme Opening Ceremonies and the Nunavut Trade Show.
